This is my review of Pokémon violet. The game has had lots of talks about how bad the gameplay is. Is it really bad as people say? Well let’s find out.

As you can tell I have put in a good amount of time in this game. I’ve put in about 81 hours. I’ve personally had a great time playing it. Story wise it was pretty enjoyable. It was also a little on the easier side so you can just play and chill out and enjoy the story. The story had 3 different parts which was a good change up to the Pokémon games.

Gameplay wise it is really janky. That part of the game I am really disappointed in. The frame rate is down right terrible at times and has some crashes too. It’s not to the point of it ruins the whole game but people have a point in saying it does ruin the experience.

I’ve enjoyed it so much that I completed the pokedex which took me quite awhile. I knew from the beginning of the game I was going to go for it though. So throughout my journey I went through the tedious task of catching everything and evolving what I could while doing it. Some of the good things about it was that it seems a bit easier to catch Pokémon from what I can tell. I haven’t had good luck since getting the shiny charm though as I’ve found all my shiny Pokémon before I had gotten it.

Raids are very challenging if you do the 5-7 star raids. I fail majority of them. I do enjoy them though. Even though once you keep failing them it kind of kills the fun. That could be on me for not building my Pokémon right. Herba mysticas can be a pain to get from them too.

Picnics for breeding is definitely a downgrade in my eyes though. I miss the daycare that was the previous ways of getting eggs. I’m still experimenting with sandwiches though. I haven’t had any luck with shiny increased chances with the sandwiches yet.

Multiplayer is pretty cool if the game wasn’t so laggy. I enjoy running around with my brother while he goes through his progress. A few times we’ve had it crash but for the most part it has been stable. I think they need to add onto the mode to have a multiplayer story adventure.

Conclusion is if you’re a Pokémon fan get the game! Even with its short comings it’s worth getting and playing through.
